*Medicare and Medicare Advantage Plans have some important limitations.

Medicare does pay for Chiropractic Spinal Manipulation. Medicare, as usual, covers 80% of the fee. If you do not have secondary insurance, the 20% coinsurance is about $11.

Strange as it may seem, Medicare does not pay for the required initial exam. All new patients are required to have an initial exam. The one hour initial office visit and exam is $185. Medicare does not pay for other very useful treatments provided in our clinic that help patients get better faster and stay better longer. These include different kinds of soft-tissue or myofascial work, interactive stretching, and meticulous training in home rehabilitation exercises. Any mix of these modalities is $35 out of pocket on each follow-up visit.

Medicare Advantage plans follow the same guidelines as standard Medicare but they have a fixed co-pay instead of co-insurance. The average co-pay is $20. That means a typical out of pocket cost for a follow-up visit would be $55, if you have an advantage plan.

If you have secondary insurance or a Medigap or supplemental plan, it only covers the 20% coinsurance. It will not pay for non-covered services such as the exam, or rehab exercise training.
